2. Download AIM 4.2

3. Connect with AIM 4.2

1. Open AIM 4.2 — do not log in yet
2. Click Setup (or Preferences depending on the build) on the sign-on screen
3. Select Connection (usually under the "Sign On/Off" tab or network options)
4. Uncheck or bypass "Use the default AOL server"
5. In the Server Host field, type: aim.flightlessbirdlabs.io
6. In the Port field, type: 5190
7. Click OK to close the window
8. Back on the sign-on screen, type your Screen Name and Password
9. Click Sign On

Pidgin users

1. Accounts → Manage Accounts → Add
2. Protocol: OSCAR (AIM/ICQ)
3. Enter your Screen Name and Password
4. Click the Advanced tab
5. Connection Security: change to Don't use encryption
6. Server: aim.flightlessbirdlabs.io
7. Port: 5190
8. Click Add
